Job Summary
The Medical Transportation Specialist works with individuals with developmental disabilities by taking them to appointments, delivering medications to group homes or day sites, and picking up prescriptions from pharmacies. You will transport individuals to and from their medical appointments in Omaha, Bellevue, and Council Bluffs.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Responsible for creating a safe, positive, and encouraging atmosphere for the people we support.
- Provide services to address the wants and needs of people with developmental disabilities, which may include :
Supporting personal goals
Facilitating activities that provide people with socialization and connections to the communityEngaging participation in recreation, social, and skill-building activitiesTransporting individuals to appointments, community outings, or other destinationListening to medical provider at individual's appointments and relaying message to HOH nurse by end of dayAssisting with activities of daily living, such as, feeding, bathing, dressing, grooming, etc.Reinforcing therapies, including speech, behavioral support, and physical therapyAdministering medications and other medical treatment as delegated by an HOH nurseMaintaining knowledge of each person’s specialized needsEnsure each individuals’ rights are protected and they are treated with dignity and respect.Ensure documentation is completed accurately and in a timely manner, including but not limited to individual plan data, behavior plan data, community integration logs, assessments, individual funds requests, mileage logs, maintenance requests forms, and supply acquisition formsKeep day center interior and exterior clean, organized, and tidy.Complete all other duties as assignedExperience & Requirements
Must have a valid driver’s license and clear driving recordCurrent automobile insuranceAbility to pass registry and background checksMust be able to push and maneuver individuals in wheelchairs
