Overview
This position is primarily responsible for performing preventative maintenance, diagnosing, and repairing heavy-duty trucks. We offer in-house advanced-training opportunities - we are one of only three dealer groups in North America that is certified to conduct all Mack / Volvo training up to the master tech certification within our in house Training Centers. We cover travel costs for our technicians to attend training. We also offer a family-oriented work environment.
Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough inspections and diagnostic tests to troubleshoot issues and repair vehicle to proper operating condition
- Perform advanced repairs and replace major components such as radiators, valve adjustments, and turbos
- Rebuild or repair major components such as transmissions, gear plates and block reconditioning
- Perform entire engine overhauls including replacing heads, rods and main bearings
- Troubleshoot and perform complex wiring repairs and diagnose and repair any electronic issues
- Perform routine and preventative maintenance services. Identify worn and damaged parts all parts to include major components, repairing, adjusting, or replacing as needed
- Maintain safe and organized work area
- Ability to be on task to meet shop quality and efficiency standards
- Maintain vehicle records by annotating services and repairs
- Follow all state and federal vehicle requirements by testing engine, safety, and combustion control standards; follow company policies, procedures, and safety and EPA regulations
- Must use all safety equipment necessary for the job
- Maintain current knowledge of job and technical skills by participating in educational opportunities and reading technical and regulation publications
- Verify vehicle performance by conducting test drives and adjusting controls and systems
Qualifications
Minimum 5 years practical experience in commercial 6 & 8 truck classesMust have own hand toolsHighly proficient in the repair and diagnosis of all aspects of commercial trucks; such as diesel engines, transmissions, clutches, drive shafts & differentials; electrical systems, HVAC systems, hydraulic systems, steering systems, and brakesHigh expertise in troubleshooting using diagnostic softwareOEM Master Tech certifications & Cummins training preferredProficient computer skills to input vehicle maintenance records and utilize diagnostic softwareAbility to meet physical demands of the job (job requires frequent lifting / moving up to 50lbs, climbing, stooping, kneeling, seeing, grasping, hearing, etc.)Ability to work effectively with minimal supervisionAbility to maintain predictable and reliable attendance and work in a safe and alert mannerValid driver's license and able to meet insurance requirements.
