The HR Generalist is responsible for supporting and executing human resources functions across a home health and hospice agency. This role ensures compliance with employment regulations, facilitates recruitment and onboarding, manages employee relations, and supports a positive workplace culture aligned with the agency's mission and values.
Key Responsibilities
Recruitment & Onboarding
- Coordinate recruitment efforts including job postings, candidate screening, and interview scheduling.
- Facilitate onboarding and orientation for new hires across clinical and administrative departments.
- Maintain accurate and compliant personnel files and documentation.
Employee Relations & Support
Serve as a resource for staff regarding HR policies, benefits, and workplace concerns.Support conflict resolution and promote a respectful, inclusive work environment.Assist with employee engagement initiatives and recognition programs.Compliance & Policy Administration
Ensure HR practices comply with federal and Indiana state employment laws, including FMLA, ADA, and EEOC guidelines.Maintain and update employee handbook and HR policies in alignment with agency standards.Support survey readiness and HR documentation for audits and inspections.Payroll & Benefits Administration
Assist with payroll preparation, timekeeping accuracy, and PTO tracking.Coordinate benefits enrollment, changes, and employee education.Liaise with benefit providers and support annual open enrollment processes.Training & Development
Track mandatory training and continuing education for staff.Support leadership in identifying training needs and coordinating professional development opportunities.Maintain training records and ensure regulatory compliance.Technology & Systems
Utilize HRIS and EMR systems such as Home Care Home Base (HCHB) to manage employee data and support HR workflows.Generate HR reports and assist with data analysis for staffing and compliance metrics.Qualifications
Education & Experience
Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field required.Minimum 2 years of HR experience in a healthcare setting; home health or hospice experience strongly preferred.Familiarity with Home Care Home Base (HCHB) or similar systems is highly desirable.Skills & Competencies
Strong knowledge of employment laws and HR best practices.Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.High level of discretion and confidentiality.Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.Physical Requirements
