JOB DESCRIPTION

Fox News Digital is seeking a sharp, fast, and strategic Politics Editor to anchor our swing shift (12–8pm ET) coverage of politics on and . This role is designed for an editor who thrives on breaking news, knows how to package stories to dominate the digital conversation, and can manage the newsroom during peak afternoon and evening traffic hours.

The Politics Editor will be the first line of quality control in this critical window, ensuring that Fox’s political coverage is fast, sharp, visually compelling, and competitive.

A SNAPSHOT OF YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

Anchor afternoon and evening political coverage, driving breaking news, trending stories, and smart follow-ups.

Assign, edit, and package stories with speed, accuracy, and strong framing, ensuring headlines, ledes, and visuals meet Fox News Digital's standards.

Work closely with reporters, Senior Editors, Managing Editors, homepage, video, and social teams to ensure clean delivery of assets and strong placement.

Monitor political developments, wire services, competitors, and social platforms for story opportunities; make real-time editorial calls to keep Fox ahead.

Shape reporter pitches into polished, impactful journalism and coach writers on sharp copy, sourcing discipline, and audience-focused framing.

Maintain strong communication with day shift and overnight teams to ensure seamless coverage handoffs.

Occasionally write quick-turn political copy as needed.

Additional duties as assigned.

WHAT YOU WILL NEED

5+ years of experience covering or editing politics in a fast-paced digital newsroom.

Strong news judgment and a proven ability to manage breaking and trending political stories under tight deadlines.

Experience with headlines, visuals, and homepage packaging that drive digital performance.

Excellent editing skills, with a focus on clarity, accuracy, and sharp framing.

Strong collaboration skills, especially working cross-functionally with homepage, social, and video.

Familiarity with digital audience analytics and how to frame content for reach and impact.

Ability to thrive in a deadline-driven, high-volume environment.

Flexibility to work occasional holidays and off-hours when news demands.

Bachelor’s degree in journalism or related field preferred, or equivalent experience.

Pursuant to state and local pay disclosure requirements, the pay rate / range for this role, with final offer amount dependent on education, skills, experience, and location is $83,000.00-97,000.00 annually. This role is also eligible for various benefits, including medical / dental / vision, insurance, a 401(k) plan, paid time off, and other benefits in accordance with applicable plan documents. Benefits for Union represented employees will be in accordance with the applicable collective bargaining agreement.
