Our Estate in the Salem Hills is searching for an experienced and energetic Assistant Tasting Room Manager to join our team of wine enthusiasts. The Assistant Tasting Room Manager provides hands-on managerial support to the Tasting Room staff to deliver a high-end guest experience. The ideal candidate has at least one year of managerial experience, along with hospitality or serving experience.

Primary Job Responsibilities / Essential Functions :

  • In absence of manager, leads Estate Tasting Room with duties including opening & closing procedures, purchase transactions, hosting tastings, promoting the sale of wine, promoting Wine Club memberships, & promoting non-wine merchandise.
  • Maintains & updates Tasting Flights and Tasting Menus in collaboration with the Tasting Room Manager.
  • Point of contact for customer service issues in the Tasting Room in the absence of the manager.
  • Point person for concerns within the Tasting Room including but not limited to shipping errors, faulted bottles, customer service issues, maintenance issues (dishwashers, coolers, etc), inventory of wine / merchandise / office supplies, personnel problems.
  • Orders and maintains all TR inventory and supplies necessary for the successful operation of the TR. This includes menu paper, brochures, tasting cards, bags, glassware, and wine.
  • Monitors cash registers & accounting for sales throughout the day.
  • Reviews end-of-day reconciliation including reconciling poured wines, counting cash, balancing registers, ensuring that daily receipts are properly secured in the safe & all daily sales & recaps are documented.
  • Serves as the POS point of contact for questions from employees or errors / issues with the system. Responsible for maintaining the POS system, including but not limited to adding new cashiers, sales reps, products, item numbers, prices & other changes.
  • Maintains supply of clean glasses, washing & drying racks.
  • Maintains daily supplies, including bags, wine carriers, shippers, brochures, etc.
  • Reconciles all wine, glassware, and inventory on a daily & month-end process.
  • Supervises, directs, & schedules staff using a hands-on approach.
  • Coaches and provides a lead by example presence in the Tasting Room.
  • Assists with hiring & training of Tasting Room Associates and Concierge.
  • Performs annual TR Staff reviews.
  • Approves, edits, and audits all Tasting Room Associate timecards.
  • Facilitates orders of name tags, business cards, and supplies needed for Tasting Room associates.
  • Works closely with Wine Club Manager & is cross-trained in essential functions of Wine Club order processing.
  • Assists in planning on-site events.
  • Other tasks as assigned by the tasting room manager.
  • Attends or leads the meetings as indicated on page one.

Requirements :

  • Must have a valid / current OLCC Server's Permit and Food Handler's Card.
  • Must have Thursday - Monday availability
  • Must be able to Lift 40 lbs.
  • Must be able to stand for long periods of time and work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must be available to work peak tourism and traffic times including holidays, weekends, and evenings.
  • Must be available to work on-site events.
  • Must have the ability to use point-of-sale (POS) systems, Google services, and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Other Skills / Abilities :

  • Ability to use standard CRM, POS systems, and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Thorough understanding and genuine interest in the luxury wine business and terminology.
  • Ability to educate customers about wine with a passion, not pretension.
