Position Summary

We are seeking a strategic and technically proficient Product Manager with a deep understanding of Land Mobile Radio (LMR) technology and the public safety communications market. This individual will play an active and influential role in our product strategy and development, ensuring our product roadmap addresses the critical communication needs of first responders and public safety agencies. The ideal candidate will possess robust analytical capabilities, a strong understanding of sales cycles within the public safety sector, and a proven ability to collaborate effectively with other teams. You will be responsible for translating market requirements into profitable products and ensuring our offerings exceed the expectations of our public safety customers. This role reports directly to the Senior Vice President and General Manager, LMR.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • LMR & Public Safety Communications Market Expertise :

Conduct in-depth market research and customer analysis to understand the evolving communication needs, challenges, and purchasing behaviors of public safety agencies such as law enforcement, fire, EMS, utilities, and emergency management.

  • Proactively identify and analyze LMR and public safety communications sectors for market demand signals, including trends in digital radio technologies, interoperability requirements, and the adoption of integrated LMR / LTE solutions.
  • Analyze the competitive landscape within the LMR and public safety communications market to identify opportunities for product differentiation and market share expansion.
  • Gather insights from public safety professionals, industry associations (e.g., APCO), and regulatory bodies to inform product development strategy and ensure compliance standards (e.g., Project 25).
  • Product Strategy & Development Leadership :
  • Serve as a principal member of the Product Development Committee, providing expertise on market demand, competitive landscape, and public safety requirements to shape the product roadmap and strategy.

  • Define and execute product vision, strategy, and roadmaps for LMR and related public safety communication solutions, prioritizing initiatives based on market demand, revenue potential, and strategic alignment with public safety requirements.
  • Develop compelling product positioning and value propositions that emphasize the reliability, security, and mission-critical capabilities of our offerings for the public safety sector.
  • Manage the product lifecycle for LMR and public safety communications products, including product definition, specifications, and ongoing optimization to ensure sustained market relevance and profitability.
  • Go-to-Market & Sales Enablement :
  • Collaborate closely with the Sales and Marketing teams to develop and execute comprehensive go-to-market strategies and launch plans tailored to the unique LMR buying cycles and needs of public safety agencies.

  • Develop and implement data-backed pricing strategies that maximize revenue and market share within the public safety sector, considering government procurement processes and agency budgets.
  • Partner with Marketing to create impactful sales collateral, presentations, case studies, and training materials that effectively communicate product value and drive lead generation in the public safety communications market.
  • Provide the Sales team with in-depth training on our product portfolio, public safety communications standards, and competitive differentiation to enhance effectiveness in winning bids and securing contracts.
  • Act as a product expert for the Sales team, assisting with complex customer engagements, product demonstrations, and technical discussions with public safety agencies.
  • Monitor product performance, sales results, and market feedback, making iterative adjustments to strategies and tactics to maximize market success.
  • Cross-functional Collaboration & Execution :
  • Drive strong cross-functional alignment and execution across Sales, Marketing, Engineering, and Operations teams to ensure seamless product development, launch, and sustainment in the public safety sector.

  • Communicate product vision, strategy, and progress to stakeholders at all levels of the organization and to public safety clients.
  • Requirements

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, - Word, & PowerPoint)
  • Project Management experience
  • Exceptional verbal and written English communication skills

  • Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, or a related technical field; MBA preferred.
  • 3+ years of experience in product management or product marketing within the LMR and / or public safety communications industry.
  • Proven ability to conduct in-depth market and competitive analysis within the public safety sector and translate insights into quantifiable product and business outcomes.
  • Deep understanding of LMR technology, including digital radio standards (e.g., Project 25), system architecture, and interoperability challenges faced by public safety agencies.
  • Demonstrated experience with public safety communication systems and the unique requirements of mission-critical communications.
  • Experience using data-driven approaches to decision-making, such as Splunk.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical information clearly and concisely to diverse audiences, including first responders and public safety officials.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and execute effectively in a demanding and fluid environment.
  • Proficiency in relevant business tools (e.g., CRM, data analytics platforms, market research tools). Experience with Agile product development methodology and processes a plus.
