Medical Assistant | Port St. Lucie, FL | $19.50-$22 / hour | Temporary assignment
Overview :
Seeking a detail-oriented and compassionate Medical Assistant to support clinical and front-desk operations. This safety-sensitive role involves direct patient care, administrative support, and collaboration with providers to deliver exceptional patient experiences.
Key Responsibilities :
- Room patients, take vitals, update EMR with history & medications
- Assist provider with exams, procedures, and treatments
- Perform phlebotomy, injections, EKGs, in-office diagnostics & CLIA-waived labs
- Administer medications, start / monitor IVs (if certified)
- Provide patient education and follow-up calls
- Maintain clean, stocked exam rooms and sterilize equipment
- Handle front desk tasks : phones, scheduling, check-in / out, referrals
- Track inventory and order medical / office supplies
- Train new team members as needed
Qualifications :
High school diploma required; Medical Assistant certification preferred1+ year experience as a Medical AssistantCPR certification preferred; IV and phlebotomy experience a plusEMR and basic computer proficiency (Google Suite, Microsoft Office)Bilingual in English and Spanish preferredAttributes :

At least one year of clinical medical assisting experience
Perform administrative and certain clinical duties under the direction of a physician. Administrative duties may include scheduling appointments, maintaining medical records, billing, and coding information for insurance purposes. Clinical duties may include taking and recording vital signs and medical histories, preparing patients for examination, drawing blood, and administering medications as directed by physician.Interview patients to obtain medical information and measure their vital signs, weight, and height.Help physicians examine and treat patients, handing them instruments or materials or performing such tasks as giving injections or removing sutures.Show patients to examination rooms and prepare them for the physician.Collect blood, tissue, or other laboratory specimens, log the specimens, and prepare them for testing.Prepare treatment rooms for patient examinations, keeping the rooms neat and clean.Explain treatment procedures, medications, diets, or physicians' instructions to patients.Prepare and administer medications as directed by a physician.Greet and log in patients arriving at office or clinic.Perform routine laboratory tests and sample analyses.Change dressings on wounds.Inventory and order medical, lab, or office supplies or equipment.Operate x-ray, electrocardiogram (EKG), or other equipment to administer routine diagnostic tests.Set up medical laboratory equipment.Contact medical facilities or departments to schedule patients for tests or admission.Schedule appointments for patients.Authorize drug refills and provide prescription information to pharmacies.Perform general office duties, such as answering telephones, taking dictation, or completing insurance forms.
