The Claims Administrator is responsible for helping our customers maintain a sense of security and their well-being by effectively providing timely and accurate administrative support to the OneAmerica Financial Claims teams. The Claims Administrator acts as a customer service advocate by providing expedient guidance and resolution for inbound customer inquiries. The Claims Administrator appropriately requests, verifies, and collects claim requirements via phone and / or in writing.

Will effectively train and mentor less experienced Claims Administrators and perform audits.

Primary Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to :

  • Customer Experience and support : 40% Provides timely, accurate, professional, courteous, empathic, and thoughtful service. Timely and accurately documents and / or communicates, phone conversations in accordance with department guidelines.
  • Requests claim requirements from policyholders, insureds, policyowners, power of attorneys, third party administrators, etc. Ensures accuracy and completeness of claims submitted.
  • Performance and Service expectations : 50% Actively delivers results and contributes to and maintains or exceeds departmental deadlines, requirements, service, accuracy, timeliness, and performance standards. The Claims Administrator will take appropriate action to achieve objectives and will independently adjust actions and assist fellow associates in response to shifting priorities and rapid change.
  • Correctly sets up a variety of group and individual and / or group long term care, life, life waiver of premium, death, disability, annuity, and unclaimed property claims utilizing multiple administrative and claim systems.
  • Monitors one or more of the OneAmerica Claim mailboxes timely for incoming correspondence and correctly indexes to the appropriate AWD work type. Communicate receipt of incoming correspondence according to department procedures.
  • Process Improvement : 10% Demonstrates EWA and support of the OneAmerica Ways. Identify opportunities for efficiency and innovation in process and communicate to leadership team.

Required Education and / or Certifications :

Must have a High School Diploma or GED

Recommended Education and / or Certifications :

Bachelors' Degree preferred in Business Management, Operations Management, Statistics, or Insurance

Work Experience and skills required :

  • Desired minimum of 1-2 years' work experience. Prior experience within a claims operation is preferred. Knowledge of insurance administration terms and processes is a plus.

  • Demonstrates excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Works well within a collaborative team environment
  • This selected candidate will be expected to work hybrid in Indianapolis, IN, or Portland, ME. The candidate will also be expected to physically return to the office in CA, IN or ME as business needs dictate or for team-building and collaboration.
