Director of Event Services
At Fairmont San Francisco, our legendary service and iconic venues set the stage for unforgettable events. As Director of Events, you will lead the planning and execution of all on-site events and conferences - ensuring seamless coordination, elevated guest experiences, and service excellence across all functions. This role is key in delivering memorable occasions, from high-profile galas to executive meetings.
What you will be doing :
Reporting to the Director of Sales, responsibilities and essential job functions include but are not limited to the following :
Consistently offer professional, friendly, and engaging serviceOversee and lead the Events Services team from contract turnover through executionServe as the primary liaison between clients and hotel departments to ensure operational excellenceEstablish and maintain rapport with clients before, during, and after events to ensure satisfaction and repeat businessPrepare and manage departmental operating procedures and service standardsOversee the planning and logistics of all events, ensuring timely, accurate communication and coordination across departments (banquets, culinary, stewarding, rooms, AV, etc.)Conduct detailed site inspections and pre-conference planning meetings as neededLead the creation and distribution of event orders, group resumes, and function contractsMonitor event space setup, service delivery, and overall flow to ensure client expectations are exceededCollaborate with Banquet and Culinary teams to manage event execution and troubleshoot in real timeMaintain accurate records and event files for internal follow-up and post-event reportingPartner with the Director of Sales to forecast departmental performance and identify operational needsUphold and enforce hotel standards, policies, and proceduresSupport departmental financial goals by managing labor and operational expensesBalance administrative, operational, and colleague development responsibilitiesOther duties as assignedQualifications
Your experience and skills include :
Minimum 5 years of leadership experience in Conference Services or Event Management in a luxury or large-scale hospitality environmentProven success in client relations and event executionStrong organizational, planning, and leadership skillsExcellent communication skills, both verbal and writtenProficiency in Microsoft Office and event management systems (e.g., Delphi, Opera)University / College degree in Hospitality, Event Management, or related field preferredAbility to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environmentHighly responsible, reliable, and service-focusedPhysical Aspects of Position (include but are not limited to) :
Frequent standing and walking throughout shiftOccasional kneeling, pushing, pulling, liftingOccasional ascending or descending ladders, stairs and rampsSalary Rate : $120,000 to $150,000 USD gross per annual
