PRIMARY PURPOSE :
The Library Media Services clerk is responsible for ensuring all library book orders in the district are filled correctly, including editing and uploading cataloging records within the library automation system to ensure records are accurate and aligned with cataloging specifications so that students and staff can effectively locate materials. School library inventory and special projects will occasionally require working from a campus within the district.

Education / Certification :
- High school diploma or equivalent (required)
SPECIAL KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS :
Proficient in computer utilization and applications such as word processing, spreadsheets and databasesProficient skills in typing, basic math, maintenance of physical and digital filesEffective communication and interpersonal skillsHighly detail oriented, organized, and self-motivatedAbility to learn specialized library automation software and how to apply library cataloging conceptsExperience :
One to three years of library clerical experience preferredMAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES :
Analyzes all incoming book orders and shipments for correct fulfillment and quality control; contacts vendors when necessary regarding missing items, incorrect items, and damaged items.Retrieves electronic bibliographic records for purchases, verifies record quality, edits them according to district standards, and uploads them to the library automation system.Compares multiple records within the system to evaluate quality, combining records as needed according to standards, ensuring precision and alignment with current specifications.Identifies discrepancies and errors within bibliographic data and works with supervisors to address issues across the systemPhysically processes materials, including creating spine labels, applying book jackets, and aligning physical barcodes to digital records.payment of library invoices.Maintains accurate physical and digital records.Occasionally visits campuses to conduct inventory of school libraries and work on special projects to support the maintenance of library collections.Follow all rules, regulations and policies of Plano ISD and follow directives from supervisorFollow attendance policy as assigned by supervisorPerform other functions that may be assigned by the administration and / or supervisorEquipment Used :
