The Opportunity :

We have an immediate opening for a regular full-time Senior Archaeologist / Principal Investigator to work a hybrid remote schedule based out of our downtown Tempe office.

Your Key Responsibilities :

  • Planning and managing all phases of cultural resources projects including survey, archaeological monitoring, testing, and data recovery.
  • Proficiently and independently preparing, reviewing, and editing complex technical documents for a full range of cultural resources project types.
  • Preparing scopes of work and cost estimates.
  • Meeting project scope, schedule, and budget obligations.
  • Mentoring other staff.

What You'll Bring :

  • Master's degree in Anthropology or a related field.
  • 7+ years of cultural resources management (CRM) experience, including 5+ years of supervisory experience, preferably in the Southwest.
  • Sufficient experience to be listed as a Principal Investigator on an Arizona State Museum blanket permit
  • Demonstrable experience interacting and coordinating with clients, as well as government agencies and Tribal representatives, in a decision-making role.
  • Knowledgeable about Section 106 review process and other federal, state, and municipal historic preservation and cultural resources regulations.
  • An established area of analytical expertise and / or archaeological research interest.
  • Demonstrable experience with independently preparing, reviewing, and editing complex technical documents for a full range of cultural resources projects.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must be able to work cooperatively in a team-oriented setting with crew members and supervisors.
  • Must be self-motivated and be able to work independently and manage project workload.
  • Preferred Qualifications :

  • Masters degree in Anthropology or closely related field.
  • 3+ years of supervisory experience, preferably in the Southwest.
  • Experience working with government and Tribal agencies and personnel.

  • Compensation This is a full-time position paid on a salaried basis between $83,200 to $109,200 annually, depending on experience and education.
