The PPL is looking for a Library Circulation Attendant III to supervise the circulation activities of the Harmon Library. The first branch of the Phoenix Public Library System, the Harmon Library is nestled in Central City South, which is between the Downtown and South Phoenix Communities. Harmon Library serves a diverse multiethnic clientele that includes English, Spanish and Chinese speakers.

Responsibilities Include

  • Supervises, selects, and evaluates Library Circulation Attendants and Library Page.
  • Trains Library Circulation Attendants and Library Page on library procedures and policies.
  • Plans, directs and coordinates the activities of the circulation and sort teams to ensure coverage and quality service.
  • Keeps accurate, up-to-date records of work and leave time for assigned staff.
  • Checks library materials in and out and enters transaction records into an integrated library system.
  • Serves as the lead for processing and submission of payroll.
  • Serves as the Person In Charge (PIC) in the absence of the Manager and Assistant Manager.
  • Manages customer accounts and resolves difficult or unusual problems related to circulation.
  • Explains Library Circulation Policies clearly and accurately to customers and staff.
  • Maintains regular and reliable attendance.
  • Demonstrates superior seamless customer service, integrity, and commitment to innovation, efficiency, and fiscally responsible activity.
  • Manages the usage, financial accounting and documentation and maintenance of cash kiosks, coin towers and safe.
  • Directs and coordinates completion of periodic library reports.
  • Leads and manages the creation and submission of supply and special orders and tracks received purchases.

The ideal candidate must be able to multi-task, resolve problems, and work with a diverse customer base in a fast-paced environment.

SALARY

Pay Range : $21.54 to $40.61 per hour.

Hiring Range : $21.54 to $26.18 per hour.

    Minimum Qualifications

  • Three years of library clerical experience.
  • Including one year of experience at a circulation desk with limited supervisory responsibilities (one year at the level of Library Circulation Attendant II).
  • Other combinations of experience and education that meet the minimum requirements may be substituted.

  • Preferred Qualifications

    The minimum qualifications listed above, plus :

    Experience With

  • Working with an Integrated Library System (ILS), Polaris, or similar software.
  • Circulation experience in a library setting.
  • Supervising staff in a professional environment and training staff on policy and procedures.
