USPI Texan Surgery Center is seeking a motivated Front Desk / Medical Records to join our team. We have 3 OR rooms. We perform outpatient surgical procedures in ENT, Ophthalmology. We are looking for a candidate to be available Monday-Friday, schedule subject to changed based on surgical schedule and flow of day. Candidate needs to be available for some early mornings and later evenings.

Position requires weekdays only no holidays, weekends, or call. Some later evenings required.

Job Summary : The Front Desk / Medical Records performs a variety of duties such as chart analysis, abstracting, audits, and filing, interfaces with patients and families, physicians, vendors and staff; Admit patients and process their paperwork; Handle funds per office procedure. Answer incoming phone calls. Prepares and responds to correspondence and records for the release of patient information. Shall be knowledgeable of HIPPA regulations concerning protected healthcare information and other federal guidelines regarding confidentiality. Shall be flexible to perform a variety of duties. This position requires strong interpersonal skills to regularly interact professionally, promptly and courteously with patients, physicians, and their offices in addition to other Center personnel. Job Duties and Responsibilities : Include the following. Other duties may be assigned :

  • Responsible for assembling medical chart upon completion, reviewing each chart for completeness, and obtaining missing signatures or documents in a timely manner.
  • Prepares charts for doctor’s signatures, maintains medical record files, and is responsible for all aspects of its confidentiality.
  • Responsible for obtaining and appropriately filing all reports generated by outside vendors.
  • Scans charts and documents accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Responsible for completion of the Medical Record and obtaining surgeon’s signature on Operative Reports.
  • Maintains log of outstanding Operative Reports and assists in the report preparation for the MEC.
  • Acts as Front Desk back up and relief as needed.
  • Prepares daily deposit.
  • Receives, screens, and routes incoming calls in a professional manner by the third ring.
  • Informs Business Office Manager of applicable day-to-day situations.
  • Follows employee health, safety, personnel, and staffing policies.
  • Ability to work as a team member.
  • Shall be flexible, reliable, productive, patient-oriented and self-motivated.
  • Update patient demographics / information in system
  • Collect balances due and document in the billing system

Required Skills : Qualifications :

  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • One year previous experience or some health care clerical experience or medical terminology preferred.
  • Must have the skills necessary to operate office equipment that are required to fulfill job duties.
  • Medical terminology and computer experience beneficial.
  • Good communication skills.
  • USPI complies with federal, state, and / or local laws regarding mandatory vaccination of its workforce. If you receive an exemption from the vaccination requirement, you will be required to submit to regular testing in accordance with the law.
