A leading, multi-billion dollar global chemicals manufacturer with a stellar industry reputation is seeking a Senior Plant Manager to lead operations at its flagship high-hazard batch chemical facility near the Gulf Coast . This highly visible plant plays a mission-critical role within the company’s global operations—supplying materials for the aerospace, defense, specialty electronics, and power infrastructure sectors.
This opportunity is open due to a planned retirement , and our client is looking for a proven operations leader with strong union experience, a background in chemical batch manufacturing , and expertise in PSM (Process Safety Management) and RMP (Risk Management Plan) protocols. In addition to the flagship site (approximately 150 employees, 100 union), the Plant Manager will also provide strategic oversight and support to a smaller, non-union site near Charlotte, NC (about 40 employees).

Key Responsibilities
Lead daily operations and long-term strategy for the Gulf Coast flagship plant and provide leadership / support to the NC satellite facilityEnsure safety, quality, cost, delivery, and environmental standards are met or exceededChampion and drive a strong process safety culture and maintain compliance with PSM / RMP regulationsBuild and sustain strong union relations and foster collaborative labor-management communicationsDevelop and mentor site leadership teams, instilling accountability, transparency, and shared ownershipCollaborate with corporate leadership to align site goals with broader business objectivesRepresent the plant in audits, regulatory inspections, and executive-level reviewsWhat We’re Looking For
Proven track record in chemical batch manufacturing, with PSM and RMP expertisePrior experience in a union environment (essential)Experience managing or supporting multiple sites, ideally across different statesStrong leadership and people-development skills—able to build trust, coach teams, and communicate effectively at all levelsBachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering or a related engineering discipline is required; advanced degree a plusExperience in 24 / 7 operations with high-hazard materials preferredThis is not just another plant role—it’s a stepping stone to executive leadership within a world-class organization.
