Senior Mechanical Layout Designer – Ausenco
Ausenco is a fast‑growing global consulting and delivery company with projects in over 80 locations worldwide. We are looking for a Senior Mechanical Layout Designer to join our Minerals & Metals Business line based out of the Tucson or Denver offices.
Responsibilities
Coordinate a multidisciplinary project team of designers across multiple offices.
Assist with forecasting and monitoring of budgeted hours.
Monitor and enforce project drafting standards.
Develop mechanical layouts in 2D and 3D environments.
Prepare drawings according to project design criteria.
Apply project defined regulations, codes, and standards.
Facilitate model reviews and follow up on action items.
Comply with all Ausenco corporate policies, quality assurance, and occupational health, safety and environmental policies.
Qualifications
Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Technician Diploma, or equivalent Drafting Technology.
4–8 years of experience in layout of Mineral Processing Plants in a multidisciplinary EPC / EPCM environment.
Working knowledge of HEXAGON SmartPlant preferred or similar (AutoCAD / AutoPlant 3D, MicroStation).
Experience with Gold and Copper commodity projects.
Understanding of industry regulatory codes and standards.
Strong written and oral communication skills.
Construction or contract administration experience is an asset.
Team‑player mindset with proven collaboration in multi‑functional project teams.
Experience in structural and architectural design is a plus.
Willingness to travel to client sites for reviews and data collection.
Experience with industrial SmartPlant projects and core mechanical design (e.g., chutes and plate work) is an asset.
