Job Summary
This position is responsible for delivering top-notch medical nutrition therapy to our patients and clients. Key responsibilities include assessing nutritional needs, providing medical nutrition therapy, and offering nutrition education. You will play a vital role within a multi-disciplinary team, acting as a resource for physicians and other healthcare staff, and may also engage in community outreach by providing nutrition education to groups or individuals beyond the hospital setting.
Minimum Qualifications
Education : Bachelor's Degree in Food & Nutrition or a related field. A Master's degree is required if registration was obtained after January 1, 2024.
Licenses / Certifications
- Must be registered with the ADA Commission on Dietetic Registration and licensed by the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR).
- CPR Certification (Heart Saver only) from either the American Red Cross or the American Heart Association or obtained within six (6) months of hire.
Experience / Knowledge / Skills :
Completion of a requisite professional experience necessary for the registered dietitian exam administered by the ADA Commission on Dietetic Registration.Able to interact positively with a diverse range of individuals.Strong verbal and written communication skills.Principal Accountabilities
Collaborate with the multi-disciplinary treatment team to optimize patient care.Establish goals for nutrition care, conduct assessments, and develop personalized nutrition care plans with continuous evaluation of nutritional status.Provide age-appropriate medical nutrition therapy to patients and clients.Adapt nutrition regimens to accommodate food preferences, tolerances, and cultural and religious considerations.Document detailed nutrition care plans in medical records, including assessments, monitoring parameters, goals, and recommendations.Deliver nutrition education to patients and families tailored to their age, religious beliefs, and cultural backgrounds.Ensure the safety of patients, staff, and visitors, adhering strictly to all Memorial Hermann policies, procedures, and standards.Promote professional growth by fulfilling mandatory / continuing education requirements and supporting departmental goals that drive organizational success; serve as a mentor and resource for less experienced staff.Exhibit a commitment to compassionate care for our community by creating personalized and memorable experiences for patients and colleagues alike.Perform other duties as assigned.
