Are you a proven leader in geotechnical engineering, materials testing, or special inspections—ready to take the helm of a high-performing team and drive it to the next level? We’re looking for a dynamic, results-focused Department Manager to oversee and expand our geotechnical, testing, and inspection operations in the Raleigh, NC market. This role is about more than managing projects—it’s about leading people, building strong client partnerships, and setting the strategic vision for growth. With a robust backlog, a loyal client base, and the support of a multi-disciplinary firm, you’ll have the platform to lead confidently and make a lasting impact. What You’ll Do Lead & Inspire – Manage and mentor project managers, engineers, and field technicians, creating a collaborative and high-performance culture. Own the Business – Oversee department P&L, set growth targets, and ensure profitable operations. Grow the Market – Cultivate client relationships, expand our presence in Raleigh and Eastern NC, and partner with other service lines to deliver comprehensive solutions. Deliver Excellence – Ensure all work—technical reviews, reports, inspections—is performed to the highest quality and delivered on time. Drive Innovation – Identify new opportunities, optimize processes, and position the team for long-term success. What You Bring Bachelor’s or Master’s in Civil Engineering or related field PE license (or ability to obtain NC reciprocity within 6 months) 5–10+ years in geotechnical engineering, materials testing, and / or special inspections, with a track record of leadership Strong technical expertise and an eye for detail Business development savvy with the ability to foster deep, lasting client relationships Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills Why This Role Stands Out Established platform – Inherit a strong backlog and client list, with room to grow.
