About The Role :
As the Civil Engineering Manager, you will primarily support our Civil Department with land development and civil engineering projects for electrical substations and transmission line right-of-way. This role will also play a pivotal part in developing and growing our Civil Department in other regional offices.
What You Will Be Doing :
- Manage all aspects of civil design including permitting support, site layout, grading design, retaining wall design, stormwater analysis, containment structure design, survey coordination, and civil construction support
- Development of civil construction specifications, cost estimates, engineering proposals, and project schedules
- Provide support for transmission line right-of-way access improvement design including culvert sizing, stormwater drainage analysis, stabilization specification, construction support, and inspection
- Assist with analyzing the design for various civil elements related to high-voltage power transmission and substation design
- Partner with clients, vendors, permitting agencies, and various other team members and stakeholders to see projects through to completion
- Act as our “brand ambassador”, passionately representing our company both internally and externally
- Mentor Civil team members on the design and analysis of civil engineering concepts and software
- Manage Civil department resources and workload though project assignments, project updates, and (at a minimum) biweekly department meeting
What You Bring :
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (required)Professional Engineer (PE) certification (required)15+ years of related engineering experience, whether through consulting or working for an electric utility (required)Project management experience (preferred)Knowledge of the fundamentals of managing project scope, schedule, and budgetExperience in civil design work experience related to : 69kV / 115kV / 138kV / 230kV / 345kV / 500kV electrical substations and / or electrical switchyards including : site grading, drainage analysis, detention basin design, structural foundation, retaining wall design, geotechnical analysis, pavement design, SPCC design, SW3P design, wetland access roads, and security fencingTechnical knowledge of design codes and software (Civil 3D, AutoCAD, MicroStation, and stormwater analysis programs)Understanding of basic practices for evaluating engineering and design issuesMindset for developing better alternatives and recommendations related to the civil group (i.e. : structure, processes, software, etc.) with the ability to communicate and apply them accordinglyAbility to work in a safe manner and always obey safety regulationsEffective communication skills (verbal, written, and presentation)Exposure to transmission, substation, environmental, right-of-way, construction, and maintenance stakeholdersAbility to use a collaborative approach when working with peers or clientsDemonstrate a high level of comfort with sharing knowledge freelyAbility to identify relevant metrics and ability to apply them to the business, our clients, and projectsStrong attention to detail and ability to work in a team environment and / or independentlyAbility to think creatively as it relates to engineering innovation and solutionsCapacity to thrive in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial, and highly agile environmentCandidate must be able to pass a drug screen, background check, and have a satisfactory driving record in accordance with the company’s driving (MVR) policySo...Why Join Us?
