DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION
The Urology Clinic at UW Medical Center-Montlake diagnoses and treats patients with urologic cancer and general urology conditions. The clinic hosts the Bladder Cancer Multispecialty Clinic and the Prostate Cancer Multispecialty Clinic. UW Medical Center-Montlake Urology was recently recognized as a UW Medicine Patient Experience Top Performer for Medical Practice- Likelihood to Recommend.
PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Provide care to patients with prostate, bladder, and other urologic cancers
Act as the primary clinical communicator for patients and family / caregivers
Act as the first line coordinator in a multidisciplinary team to coordinate plan of care and supportive care that includes : pain management, palliative care, physical therapy, nutrition services
Perform port and PICC lining blood draws and care
Assist patients, families, and caregivers to overcome healthcare system barriers
Provide care coordination throughout the cancer continuum, ensuring timely access
Provide education and resources to patients, families, and caregivers about diagnoses, treatment options, side effect management, post-treatment care, and survivorship
Assess and promote healthy lifestyle choices and self-care strategies through education and referrals to ancillary services
Develop and use appropriate assessment tools (e.g. distress screening, pain scale, performance status)
REQUIREMENTS
2 years of recent oncology, urologic, or medical-surgical nursing experience
Active BLS
Active licensure to practice as a Registered Nurse in Washington State
