Position Summary
The Director of Finance at the Provo Marriott Hotel & Conference Center leads all financial operations for the Hotel, ensuring alignment with Marriott International standards, ownership objectives, and regulatory requirements. This role supports the hotel’s strategic direction by delivering financial insight that drives profitability and operational excellence, particularly across its dynamic group, conference, and catering business segments.
As a key member of the Executive Committee, the Director partners with department heads and the General Manager to promote a strong internal control environment, optimize revenue, and ensure cost efficiency while maintaining a high standard of guest and associate satisfaction.
Key ResponsibilitiesStrategic Financial Leadership
- Oversee and guide the hotel’s financial planning processes including annual budgeting, forecasting, and long-range planning.
- Support business strategies that align with Marriott brand standards and owner objectives, with particular focus on group and conference profitability.
- Deliver actionable insights on revenue enhancement and expense management through detailed financial analysis and business intelligence tools.
Financial Reporting & Accounting Oversight
Manage day-to-day accounting operations, including general ledger, income audit, accounts payable / receivable, payroll, and cash controls.Ensure timely and accurate preparation of financial statements and management reports in compliance with Marriott International and US GAAP.Oversee preparation and submission of monthly and quarterly financial packages to Marriott corporate and ownership groups.Compliance & Risk Management
Maintain and monitor robust internal control systems and ensure strict adherence to Marriott and regulatory policies.Lead internal and external audits and implement necessary corrective actions.Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal laws, including tax filings and license renewals.Team Leadership & Development
Lead, coach, and mentor the Finance & Accounting team, fostering a culture of excellence, integrity, and service.Collaborate with Human Resources on payroll accuracy and compliance with labor laws and policies.Conduct ongoing training for department managers to improve financial literacy across hotel leadership.Cross-Departmental Collaboration
Work closely with Sales, Events, and F&B to support accurate forecasting and cost control for meetings, conferences, and banquets.Partner with Rooms and Engineering to analyze cost drivers, manage labor expenses, and maintain profitability standards.Assist in capital planning and asset management in coordination with Engineering and ownership groups.Ownership & Corporate Relations
Prepare and present regular financial updates and forecasts to ownership representatives.Maintain a proactive relationship with Marriott Area and Corporate Finance teams to ensure alignment and support.Qualifications
Education : Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required; CPA, MBA, or hospitality finance certification preferred.Experience :Minimum of 5 years’ hotel accounting / finance experience, with at least 3 years in a senior-level or Director role.Prior experience in a Marriott-managed full-service hotel required; experience with conference center or group-driven properties preferred.Strong working knowledge of Marriott systems, including MARSHA, PeopleSoft, CI / TY, P&L Toolbox.Exceptional communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.Proven ability to lead teams, manage change, and build cross-functional partnerships.Working Conditions
Full-time, on-site leadership role.
Must be available to support business needs including occasional evenings, weekends, and high-volume periods related to conference events or reporting deadlines.
