Research Scientist Staff with RF Systems Engineering

The Advanced Programs and Exploitation (APEX) team with Lockheed Martin in Boulder is looking for a Research Scientist Staff with RF Systems Engineering background to support ongoing programs and internal research and development efforts. The APEX team is focused on mission processing applications of remote sensing payloads and fusion of various data types, including radar. This position will be focused on the development, integration, and enhancement of space-based radar processing and tracking software.

This position will be expected to :

  • Evaluate, refine, and develop radar processing algorithms.
  • Develop models and detailed simulations to predict and assess system performance.
  • Lead radar algorithm design, including software specification definition.
  • Perform mode development for AMTI, GMTI, SAR, & HRR.
  • Interface with the radar system suppliers regarding system capabilities and for conducting test and analysis.
  • Work in coordination with our research scientists, FPGA engineers, and software engineers for all activities required to develop, test, and deliver prototype and fully capable systems.
  • Possibly work on AI / ML algorithm applications.

Basic Qualifications :

  • Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math) field from an accredited institution.
  • Proficiency in MatLab and another programming language.
  • Experience with radar systems and algorithms.
  • Ability to obtain a TS / SCI security clearance.
  • Desired Skills :

  • Proficiency in C++ & / or Python.
  • Experience with radar modes, mode development / analysis, and data collection methodologies.
  • Knowledge of monostatic, bistatic, and multistatic radar processing schemes.
  • Experience with active electronically scanned array (AESA) systems.
  • Applied mathematics or algorithm development experience.
  • Strong experience in software design and development.
  • Familiarity with tracking & / or signal processing algorithms.
  • Experience with a machine learning pipelines for radar systems.
  • Experience with software version control such as GIT.
  • Linux OS background / experience developing in a Linux environment.
  • Active security clearance.
  • Security Clearance Statement : This position requires a government security clearance, you must be a US Citizen for consideration. Clearance Level : TS / SCI

  • Ability to Work Remotely : Part-time Remote Telework : The employee selected for this position will work part of their work schedule remotely and part of their work schedule at a designated Lockheed Martin facility. The specific weekly schedule will be discussed during the hiring process.
  • Work Schedules : Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.
  • Schedule for this Position : 4x10 hour day, 3 days off per week
  • Pay Rate : The annual base salary range for this position in California and New York (excluding most major metropolitan areas), Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, New Jersey, Vermont, Washington or Washington DC is $89,300 - $157,550. For states not referenced above, the salary range for this position will reflect the candidate's final work location. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. Lockheed Martin considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education / training, key skills as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer.

Represented full time employees accrue 6.67 hours of Vacation per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays. PTO, Vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated based on start date during the calendar year. This position is incentive plan eligible.
