Hunter Industries is seeking a CMM Programmer who will be responsible for programming and operating a Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM) to inspect precision components and ensuring dimensional compliance to engineering specifications and part model.

Essential Functions :

  • Develops and modifies CMM programs using PC-DMIS software or similar.
  • Programs and operates Hexagon OPTIV-M CMM or similar.
  • Performs dimensional inspections of parts and assemblies using CMM and other precision measuring tools.
  • Interprets engineering drawings, part models, and specifications to create accurate inspection routines.
  • Analyzes inspection data and generates detailed reports for internal and customer use.
  • Collaborates with engineering and tooling personnel to provide SPC data on dimensional tolerances.
  • Maintains and calibrates CMM equipment ensuring machine accuracy.
  • Creates and maintains Statistical Process Control files.
  • Supports first article and final inspections reports.
  • Creates automated routines and performs troubleshooting as needed on automated vision measuring systems, coordinates measuring machines (CMM), etc.
  • Provides support in coordinating daily activities, work assignments, material requirements, and scheduling changes with the objective of running a productive, efficient, and safe working environment.

Education / Training Required and Preferred :

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Associate degree or equivalent training in a technical field preferred.
  • Experience Required and Preferred :

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in CMM programming and operation with proficiency in CMM software PC DMIS.
  • Experience with statistical process control is preferred.

  • Ability to conduct tests and inspections of products, services, or processes to evaluate quality or performance.
  • Knowledge of math and statistical techniques. Ability to accurately perform intermediate mathematical and statistical calculations and use a weight counting scale.
  • Knowledge of control charts and process capabilities.
  • Ability to analyze information and evaluate results to choose the best solution and solve problems.
  • Strong understanding of blueprint reading and complete advanced inspections such as First Article inspections, GRR, capability studies, and shrink studies.
  • Basic knowledge of SPC file creation and troubleshooting of automated inspection routines.
  • ASQ – CQT, CQA, or CMI preferred.
  • Knowledge of optical measurement systems : OGP, Micro-Vu, Keyence preferred.
  • Knowledge of Six Sigma methodologies preferred.
  • Experience with plastics and injection molding preferred.
