Job Title : Vice President of Operations

Position Summary :
The Vice President of Operations is a key member of the executive team responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations and strategic growth of a multi-location ophthalmic practice. This leader will ensure clinical and administrative operations run efficiently, deliver high-quality patient care, and maintain compliance with all regulatory and quality standards. The VP of Operations will drive operational excellence, foster team development, and align practices with the organization’s long-term vision and goals. The VP of Operations will drive organizational effectiveness, patient satisfaction, employee engagement, and operational scalability across all sites.
The VP of Operations reports directly to the Managing Partner and collaborates closely with the Partners and Executive Team to lead operational initiatives that support physician productivity, patient care quality, and long-term growth.
Requirements :
Strategic Leadership & Planning
- Collaborate with the Managing Partner, Partners, and Executive Team to lead the development and execution of strategic plans for growth and operational performance.
- Analyze operational performance metrics and KPIs across all locations to identify opportunities for improvement.
- Develop scalable systems, workflows, and infrastructure to support expansion and enhance operational efficiency.
- Translate strategic objectives into operational plans with measurable outcomes.
Operational Oversight
Direct day-to-day operations across 10 clinic locations, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and service standards.Oversee core functions such as clinical operations, optical services, call center operations, and support services.Ensure efficient patient flow, minimize wait times, and enhance the overall patient experience.Coordinate with physician leadership to support clinical operations, patient care standards, and continuity of care.Ensure operational consistency across locations and monitor adherence to standard operating procedures (SOPs).Financial Management
Collaborate with the finance department to manage operational budgets, forecast expenditures, and control costs.Monitor and improve productivity, profitability, and operational margins.Evaluate vendor contracts, negotiate favorable terms, and manage supply chain logistics.Human Resources & Talent Development
Directly oversee practice managers and lead efforts to recruit, retain and develop high-performing teams.Foster a high-performance culture focused on patient care, accountability, and employee engagement.Implement training programs, career development pathways, and succession planning.Ensure appropriate staffing levels and workforce planning across all locations.Quality, Compliance & Risk Management
Ensure all locations comply with federal, state, and local healthcare regulations, including HIPAA, OSHA, CMS, and AAO standards.Develop and implement quality assurance efforts and continuous improvement initiatives aimed at optimizing patient safety and care outcomes.Lead risk mitigation initiatives, incident response protocols, and corrective action planning.Qualifications : Education :
Bachelor’s degree in Healthcare Administration, Business, or related field (required)Master’s degree in Business Administration (MBA), Healthcare Administration (MHA), or related field (preferred)Experience :
Minimum 5-10 years of progressive leadership experience in healthcare operationsAt least 5 years in a senior leadership role within a multi-site medical practice or ophthalmology-specific organizationStrong knowledge of ophthalmic practice workflows and clinical operationsSkills :
Proven ability to lead through change and scale operations in a growth environment.Exceptional leadership and team management capabilitiesStrong financial acumen and experience with P&L managementAbility to navigate complex regulatory environments and accreditation processesProficiency in EHR systemsExcellent communication, negotiation, and decision-making skillsTravel Requirements :
