Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) with Registered Nurse (RN) licensureValid license from the Alabama Board of Nursing to practice as a registered nurseValid CPR card.Minimum of five (5) years successful nursing experience. School nursing experience is preferred.Possess and maintain a valid Alabama driver's license.Ability to meet the suitability criteria for employment and / or certification / licensure under the AlabamaChild Protection Act of 1999 and Act No. 2002-457.
- Ability to manage, supervise, and evaluate personnel.
- Ability to plan, organize, supervise, and evaluate all functions of school and district nursing programs.
- Ability to demonstrate effective leadership skills in group settings.
- Knowledge of current general medical and pediatric nursing practices.
- Knowledge of effective procedures and practices for vision, hearing and other appropriate health
screening activities.
- Ability to use technology to communicate, to manage data, and to produce / submit required reports,
correspondence, and / or financial information related to health services.
- Ability to assess staff development needs, plan, and provide effective health services training.
- Ability to develop and maintain collaborative relationships with community and state healthcare
services and agencies.
- Knowledge of school system functions, departments, personnel and schools necessary for the efficient
and effective implementation of all aspects of school nursing programs.
- Effective interpersonal skills, with an emphasis on communication and collaboration with a wide variety
of people and groups.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills with the ability to relate complex medical and technical
concepts.
- Strong leadership, organizational and project management skills.
