Open to the public, IBEW members, and any current Municipal Employees. This position is represented by the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 1547 (Technicians) and is subject to the provisions of the current agreement between the Municipality of Anchorage and the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 1547 (Technicians).

Example Of Duties
This position works in the bus stop enhancement program providing ground maintenance, preparation and landscaping, sweeping and cleaning debris from bus stops, shoveling snow and chipping ice from bus stops, planting flowers, maintaining lawns and planters at bus stops. Facility maintenance including pressure washing and cleaning bus stops and furnishings, installing bus stop furniture including digging holes for embedded furniture and drilling holes for surface mounted furniture, installing and maintaining paver bricks for boarding areas. Minor construction work including but not limited to constructing planters, cleaning and repairing vandalism, painting, some masonry and other related duties. This position is labor intensive and requires work performed in all weather conditions. Other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications / Substitutions / Preferences
High school diploma, GED, or equivalent and experience in the operation of small hand tools and performing unskilled heavy manual labor. A valid Driver's License and Full Driving record at the time of hire. Satisfactory background check which includes criminal, education, and employment history at time of hire. Successfully complete a medical physical and functional capacity examination and will also be required to successfully complete a drug test prior to hire. If selected for hire, the appointment in this position will be conditional based upon a satisfactory Municipal Employment Office conducted Background Check. A Background Check encompasses criminal history, verifying education, and verifying dates of employment. As a condition of employment, the person selected will be required to successfully complete a drug screening prior to beginning work. As a condition of employment, the person selected will be required to successfully complete a medical physical and functional capacity examination and will also be required to successfully complete a drug test prior to beginning work. If selected for hire, appointment in this position will be conditional based upon the submission of a current copy of the applicant's Alaska Driver's License, and a current (dated within 30 days from date requested) copy of his / her Department of Motor Vehicle driving record, including a driving record from previous states, if the Alaska Driver's License was first issued within one year prior to application, documenting an acceptable driving history.
