Schedule / Hours : Full-time evening shifts, 8 or 10 hours, Mon-Fri with call. Expect overnight call (5-8 slots) and 1-2 weekend call slots every 8 weeks. Call hours can vary based on staffing, requiring arrival within 30 minutes.
Major Responsibilities :
Maintain a clean, safe, and efficient environment for optimal patient care, using aseptic techniques.Assist with surgical procedures, ensuring all materials and equipment are prepared and available.Set up the operating room for each case, moving and operating equipment as necessary.Serve as a Second Assistant when needed.Communicate any equipment or supply issues to the appropriate staff.Transport patients and supplies as required.Maintain current knowledge of procedures to support the surgical team effectively.Adhere to age-specific care guidelines.Licensure and Certification :
Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification must be obtained within 6 months unless waived by department leader.Education & Experience :
Completion of an accredited Surgical Technology program is required.No prior experience is necessary.Knowledge, Skills & Abilities :
Understanding of aseptic techniques and operating room equipment.Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.Basic computer skills.Physical Requirements :
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and handle physical demands such as lifting 50 lbs. and pushing 30 lbs. of force.Required to wear PPE (masks, gloves, goggles, gowns) and manage hazards associated with surgical environments.Capability to operate all necessary equipment for job functions.This job description reflects the essential functions and responsibilities of this role.
