Job Description

This is a full-time on-site role located in Sterling Heights, MI. As a Controls Engineer at APS, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and implementing control systems for automated production systems. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify system requirements, develop control strategies, and integrate hardware and software components. Your role will involve troubleshooting and resolving technical issues, conducting system testing and validation, and providing technical support to clients.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related field
  • Strong knowledge of control system principles, PLC programming, and HMI design
  • Experience with industrial automation systems and robotics
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as ladder logic, structured text, or function block diagram
  • Familiarity with industry standards, safety regulations, and best practices
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and technical drawings
  • Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment
  • Experience with automotive manufacturing processes is a plus
  • Knowledge of CAD software and simulation tools is a plus
  • Experience with Siemens and Rockwell controls a plus.

Preferred Qualifications

  • GCCS1 and GCCH2 Certifications
  • Experience working with GM, Ford and Stellantis controls standards.
  • Experienced in using Eplan and Autocad Electrical
  • Experience with understanding of VFD front and back ends
  • Experience with communication protocols such as EtherNet / IP, Modbus TCP / IP, Profinet, Modbus RTU, and others
  • Experience writing programs with Function Blocks and / or Add On Instructions
  • Experience with safety controllers and circuits
  • Experience with servo drives and motors
  • 5 years previous experience in plant maintenance with a strong background in controls and related software
  • The salary advertised is the bracket available for this position. The actual salary paid will be dependent on your level of experience, qualifications and skill set.
