Manager, Pharmacy Operations

Job Summary

The Manager, Pharmacy Operations is responsible for coordinating and overseeing the operations of the central pharmacy and / or any assigned satellite pharmacies. This role ensures safe, efficient, and cost-effective workflows and regulatory compliance, while fostering a culture of teamwork, patient safety, and operational excellence. The manager provides leadership to supervisors, coordinators, pharmacists and technicians, as appropriate, and serves as a liaison between staff and pharmacy leadership. The scope of responsibility includes technology and automation, operational workflows, scheduling, regulatory compliance, staff development, performance improvement, and collaboration with site and system-level committees.

Key Responsibilities

• Exemplifies the Rush University System for Health (“Rush”) mission, vision and values and acts in accordance with Rush policies and procedures.
• Manages, mentors, and provides feedback to team members.
• Manages hiring, onboarding, scheduling, training, payroll, disciplinary and review processes for pharmacists and technicians.
• Conducts performance evaluations and provides mentorship for continuous improvement.
• Manages staffing model workflows for central and satellite pharmacies including ADC and other automation, IV / oral preparation and dispensing, carousel operations, compounding, and delivery of medications for optimal efficiency and accuracy.
• Manages site operations to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, pharmacy policies, procedures, and performance standards in conjunction with site and system pharmacy leaders.
