What We’re Searching For

The Municipal Association of South Carolina is accepting applications for the position of communications and systems assistant. This full-time position will support the Communications department and Business Systems Analyst.

Duties of the position include, but are not limited to :

  • Provides administrative support, compiling data for reports and studies, updating lists and information packets, researching and compiling information, updating website, etc.
  • Assists the business systems analyst with user testing and documentation for new system features or updates
  • Answers incoming calls to the organization's member website helpline and provides basic support or routes inquiries appropriately
  • Performs basic data checks and assists with maintaining accurate records in the Association Management System. Serves as a support contact for internal staff requesting updates to AMS records
  • Performs tasks using the Association Management System to include, but not be limited to the setup and creation of events, audience lists and queries
  • Manages the annual Municipal Information Directory update by sending reminders, tracking responses, and aiding users as needed
  • Answers the telephone; providing accurate information to callers and / or forwards calls to appropriate personnel; taking messages as needed; greeting and assisting office visitors
  • Performs other routine clerical work, including but not limited to copying and filing documents, entering and retrieving computer data and maintaining databases, assembling materials, ordering supplies, processing daily mail, scheduling meetings and coordinating meeting logistics, etc.
  • Provides support for the Association’s online resources (website, blog, meeting app) by posting designed content and sending blast emails

Composes documents and researches and compiles data for reports and correspondence

  • Exhibits strong customer service skills with internal and external customers
  • Develops and maintains efficient record-keeping systems
  • Assists the receptionist as needed
  • Qualifications include but are not limited to :

  • Associate degree or training / experience equivalent to two years of education in business, communications, technology or a related field
  • Strong administrative, technology and / or communications skills demonstrated by three years of experience in an office environment
  • Ability to take initiative and work independently managing multiple projects from multiple staff members
  • Ability to master complex software including database management systems, content management tools and online solutions
  • Strong organizational, time management, prioritization, grammar, proofreading, written and verbal communication, customer service, and analytical skills
  • Detail orientated and ability to master job responsibilities quickly
  • Highly skilled with Microsoft Office Suite with advanced proficiency in Word, Excel and PowerPoint; proficiency with content management system software
