We are currently seeking to fill a site position that will support LyondellBasell’s Bayport Polymers site in Pasadena, TX located 27 miles east of Houston, TX,. The Bayport Polymers site has over 300 employees and contractors and is a world class chemical manufacturing facility with 4 operating units that produce Polypropylene (PP) resins. The Process Safety Engineer (PS) is a process safety leader for the LyondellBasell Polypropylene site located in Bayport, TX (BYO). The Process Safety Engineer will office out of the BYO PP site and report to the HSE Manager. The PS Engineer will manage the BYO Process Safety Management (PSM) system and drive continuous improvement in all PSM areas in addition to maintaining compliance with PSM rules, regulations, standards, and procedures. The individual will interface with a diverse group of customers including Process Engineering, Operations, Maintenance, Capital Projects, Plant Management, HSE, and Global Process Safety.
A Day in the Life :
- Drive improvement of PSM system efficiency.
- Lead PHA’s and / or manage utilization of PS consultants to lead sites’ PHAs in addition to managing and coordinating resources to maintain compliance with PHA schedule and HAZOP activities.
- Host PHA finding sharing sessions between sites prior to finalization of PHA to drive alignment in proposed risks & resolutions.
- Monitor and develop key performance indicators (most importantly, leading indicators) to track PSM progress & implement solutions to drive improvement.
- Ownership of site PSM program and processes, including MOC, MOOC, PHA, and Facility Siting.
- Develop and communicate Key Performance Indicators to site Leadership Team.
- Ownership of site Risk Management Plan (RMP) rule, including updating and maintaining the site’s RMP submission.
- Serve as the site MOC process owner and lead the site effort in MOCs.
- Site lead for Operational Excellence (OE), PSM Compliance, and RMP compliance audits and site self-assessments.
- Understand PSM implications of incidents and provide guidance to sites for proper classification, investigation, and improvements.
- Communicate external process safety events and share best practices identified within the company.
- Provide oversight and conduct audits for site PSM systems to ensure continuous compliance and system improvement.
- Lead or participate in incident investigations.
- Participate in company process safety technical networks.
- Track and understand action items from PHAs.
- Supports process related calculations such as pressure safety valve (PSV) sizing, leak rate estimation, etc.
