Surgery - Neurosurgery Physician Assistant

Seeking an NP or PA for locum coverage in the Pediatric Neurosurgery Department . This role involves assisting in the operating room , providing inpatient and outpatient care, and coordinating surgical cases.

Key Responsibilities :

• Surgical Assistance : Assist in emergent and scheduled procedures , including :
• Craniotomy
• External Ventricular Drain (EVD) placement
• VP shunt revision
• Myelomeningocele repair
• Tumor biopsy / resection
• Wound revision
• Bedside Procedures : Perform CSF sampling from EVD, VP shunt tapping, dressing changes, suture / staple removals, and drain removals
• Inpatient Care : Conduct daily rounds on inpatient consults , coordinating the care plan with the surgeon and primary team
• Outpatient Clinic :
• Clinic every Thursday, 9 AM - Noon (may extend longer)
• Independently see patients and coordinate with the surgeon as needed.
• Follow up on imaging, test results, and scheduling
• Surgical Coordination : Manage and schedule OR cases (both emergent and scheduled ), ensuring seamless communication with the surgeon s office
