Objective :

To consistently achieve the company’s business plan for the Freight Audit and Payment service line and lead its team to deliver efficient, sustained levels of high performance. Additionally, design and deploy rigorous processes, controls and testing to ensure accurate, timely transactional processing and reporting. Lead technology strategy and requirements specific to the service line’s needs and successfully manage customer implementations and platform conversions.

Overview :

Successful P&L owners will be accountable for their service line’s results as measured by achievement of planned revenue and profits. To do this, the P&L owner will lead their team(s) and influence those who support their business by :

  • Taking the necessary actions to drive top-line growth in their business including but not limited to :

Establishing and approving annual strategies that drive the objectives of the business unit and the company.

  • Working directly with commercial leadership to define a go-to-market strategy for the business unit, win new business, and retain the customers of the business unit as well as those that impact other business units.
  • Monitoring market conditions and competitors so that the business unit can judiciously deploy the assets of the company to innovate and develop new products that will grow the business unit and the company.
  • Ensuring profitability goals are met by :
  • Driving efficiency directly within the service line’s control by creating accountability and improvements across shared services that support the business.

  • Reducing risk, improving processes and ripping out inefficiencies within their service line.
  • Managing productivity within the business to ensure that growth in revenue increases at a rate greater than expense.
  • Acting as a responsible steward of the company’s resources and as a member of the executive leadership team, embodying our values to all teammates.
  • While the “buck stops” at the P&L, the P&L owners will work within an established delegation of authority matrix that may be revised from time to time depending on the performance of the business unit and the company. Our company’s businesses are all interrelated, and no P&L owner should take an action that is detrimental to another and, therefore, the company.

    The Senior Vice President, Freight Audit and Payment is a member of the executive leadership team and is responsible for the Freight Audit and Payment P&L.

    Responsibilities : SCOPE :

  • Works collaboratively and aggressively to deliver no less than the annual plan for this business unit.
  • Develops and executes on a broad range of strategic goals spanning across the Freight Audit and Payment organization and other functions.
  • Manage operating teams across multiple operating centers.
  • Lead pricing and commercial strategies for the service offerings.
  • Directly negotiate significant customer and trading partner deals.
  • Serves in both a client-facing capacity and collaborates with other P&L and function leaders.
  • Judiciously improves yields, balancing the needs to meet the profitability expectations of the business.
  • Works with our Commercial team and other shared services to achieve the company’s revenue and growth goals.
  • Is responsible for ensuring positive client experiences throughout the lifecycle
  • Guides IT in the prudent use and development of the technology necessary to deliver a best-in-class client-facing suite of technology that enable the current and future growth of the business.
  • Provides the accountability and mentorship necessary to develop the teams that will produce outstanding, results.
  • Serves on executive leadership team and various project teams related to governing the company and improving processes.

  • TECHNICAL / FUNCTIONAL SKILLS :

  • Translates organizational goals and objectives into actionable plans in coordination with the CEO.
  • Prioritizes work to meet multiple deliverables and deadlines.
  • Assesses and drives improvement in teammate performance by providing clearly communicated and attainable goals, actionable coaching and maintaining clear, detailed written performance documentation.
  • Identifies performance and career development needs in team members and works with the teammate to prepare an effective development plan.
  • Strong working knowledge of the IT systems required (existing and to-be) to support and drive the business.
  • Serves as an effective subject matter expert to cross-functional teams.
  • Market-aware and thinks strategically to find and implement new and better solutions and product offerings.
  • Maintain and develop partnerships with the Commercial team order to maximize efforts for new logos while retaining existing business.
  • Partner with Client Experience and Analytics for core client penetration and strategically identify new opportunities.
  • Gather and focus on the voice of the customer and customer experience to exceed client expectations and improve client retention.
  • Creative problem-solving and negotiating skills.
  • Applies process, analytical rigor and quantitative analysis to decision making.
  • Demonstrates excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, and communicates clearly in all situations.
  • Qualifications :

  • 15+ years of experience in Sales, Pricing and / or Operational roles focused on transactional payment processing at a freight audit and payment service provider, factoring company, 3PL, transportation broker, LTL carrier or financial institution.
  • 10+ years of progressive leadership experience in management with innovative and decisive leadership skills with a strong preference for prior P&L ownership
  • Track record of success.
  • Must inspire others and maintain a culture of transparency, integrity and honesty in all aspects of your role.
  • Demonstrated ability (and passion) to thrive in an often chaotic and rapidly-changing startup environment
  • Demonstrated organizational skills and the ability to work in a team environment
  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Business, Finance or related field required; MBA or advanced degree preferred
  • Working Conditions / Physical Demands :

  • The Senior Vice President, Freight Audit and Payment will sit in front of a computer for long hours at a time. Staring at the computer may cause eye irritation or even muscle strain.
  • The job as Senior Vice President, Freight Audit and Payment officer does not require any strenuous or physical activity.
  • Travel is required.
