We are seeking a detail-oriented and highly skilled Data Center Administrator to manage and maintain our mission-critical infrastructure. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in server hardware, networking, and systems administration, with a proactive approach to monitoring, troubleshooting, and optimizing data center operations. This role requires a commitment to uptime, security, and efficiency, as well as the ability to collaborate across technical teams in a fast-paced environment.

In this role, you will :

  • Monitor, maintain, and troubleshoot servers, storage, network equipment, and facility infrastructure (e.g., power, cooling, HVAC, UPS, PDUs).
  • Install, rack, cable, and decommission hardware including servers, network devices, and related infrastructure.
  • Perform diagnostics, hardware repairs, and preventative maintenance to ensure uptime and performance.
  • Maintain accurate inventory, documentation, and CMDB records of data center assets.
  • Coordinate with IT, network, and security teams to support operational needs and ensure compliance with internal policies and external standards (e.g., SOC 2, ISO 27001).
  • Manage incidents and tickets, perform routine checks, and provide timely updates.
  • Support live troubleshooting at the OS level and manage small projects related to server and infrastructure changes.
  • Develop and maintain scripts to automate tasks and improve operational efficiency.
  • Collaborate with vendors for equipment repairs, replacements, and warranty claims.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation, SOPs, and process manuals.

Experience and qualifications :

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate degree or certifications (e.g., MCP, A+, Network+) preferred.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in data center operations or IT infrastructure support.
  • Proficiency in hardware repair, server / network installation, and troubleshooting across LAN / WAN, IP addressing, AD / LDAP, SAN, SQL, and HA environments.
  • Familiarity with Windows Server or Linux administration, remote KVMs, DCIM tools, and ticketing systems.
  • Basic scripting or programming knowledge for automation tasks.
  • Strong problem-solving, communication, and technical writing skills.
  • Ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Physically capable of lifting up to 40 lbs and working in a hands-on, active environment.

    The total cash range for this position in Austin is $87,000 to $121,500. Employees in this role have the potential to increase their pay up to $139,000, which is the top of the range, based on ongoing, demonstrated, and sustained performance in the role.

    The total cash range for this position in Chicago is $81,000 to $113,500. Employees in this role have the potential to increase their pay up to $129,500, which is the top of the range, based on ongoing, demonstrated, and sustained performance in the role.

    Starting pay for this role will vary based on multiple factors, including location, available budget, and an individual's knowledge, skills, and experience. Pay ranges may be modified in the future.
