Pay Range :  $85.40 / hr - $128.11 / hr

Position Summary

The Inpatient Pharmacy Services Manager is responsible for organizing and supervising the day-to-day operations and compliance of the Department of Pharmacy. They are responsible for Pharmacy operations including, but not limited to, pharmacy related automation, workflow optimization, budgetary compliance, and operations accountability. In addition, they are responsible for regulatory compliance activities including, but not limited to, cleanroom and hazardous drug procedure compliance and maintenance of the 340B discount drug program. The Pharmacy Manager will collaborate with Pharmacy staff members to provide comprehensive pharmaceutical care. They will also collaborate with various Departments of Nursing, Physicians, and Medical Center Administration in various aspects of their duties. This Manager will lead local Pharmacy projects and participate in campus and system-wide initiatives as needed.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities of the Job

  • Directs the day-to-day operations of the Department of Pharmacy
  • Ensures compliance with laws and regulations
  • Demonstrates leadership skills that positively contribute to the Medical Center and to the Health system
  • Ensures optimal departmental operations and highest quality of pharmaceutical care
  • Identifies, conducts, and / or leads performance improvement projects
  • Exercises appropriate budgetary management
  • Educates Inpatient Pharmacy employees and students
  • Placement in the pay range is based on multiple factors including, but not limited to, relevant years of experience and qualifications. Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

Qualifications / Work Experience :

  • Minimum five (5) years of hospital pharmacy practice experience including clinical practice preferred
  • Minimum three (3) years of hospital pharmacy supervisory experience preferred
  • Experience and knowledge of hospital accreditation requirements preferred
  • Knowledge of federal and state-specific laws / regulations governing pharmacy practice, including controlled substances and sterile compounding (hazardous and non-hazardous drug) regulations preferred
  • Experience and knowledge of 340B program requirements, practices, and reporting preferred
  • Experience and knowledge of pharmacy technology and automation (e.g., automated dispensing stations, EPIC electronic medical record, central pharmacy automation, RFID technology, etc.) preferred
  • General understanding of pharmacy inventory management preferred
  • Education / Licensure / Certification

  • Graduated from a School of Pharmacy with a Doctor of Pharmacy required
  • Currently licensed as a Pharmacist in the State of California required
  • Master’s degree in Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, or Public Health or equivalent experience in a business role preferred
  • Completion of an ASHP accredited PGY-1 general practice pharmacy residency preferred
  • Completion of an ASHP accredited PGY-2 specialty pharmacy residency preferred
  • Current Certification from Board of Pharmacy Specialties (e.g., BCPS, BCOP, etc) preferred
