POSITION SUMMARY : The Kitchen Aide assists the Cook with food preparation, and with maintaining a clean and sanitary area of food service. They are a collaborative team member in the day-to-day maintenance of the kitchen and preparation of the food for the Sisters. Part-time position 8a-4pm weekends.
QUALIFICATIONS :
High School graduate or equivalent preferred.
Experience with preparing group meals preferred.
Ability to lift 50 lbs. and to be able to bend, stoop and twist.
Ability to lift 50 lbs.
Well-groomed and appropriately dressed.
Good common sense.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (include, but is not limited to) :
Know and carry out the charism of the Sisters of St. Joseph - to unite neighbor with neighbor and neighbor with God.
Assist Cook with preparation of up to 3 meals a day, and as needed.
Washes and sanitizes dishes, utensils, pots, pans, equipment and food preparation areas.
Keeps the kitchen area clean and organized and disposes of trash.
Receives and stores food and kitchen supplies to their proper storage areas.
Perform other duties as assigned by the Cook, Convent Administrator and / or designee.

WORK ENVIRONMENT :
This job operates in a living with assistance. This role will routinely be exposed to sharp objects, heat and or refrigeration. This role routinely uses various equipment including but not limited to :
Equipment : knives or other sharp utensils, scissors, can opener, oven, refrigerator, blender.
Supplies : cans, large containers, large / heavy bags, cutlery and utensils, cleaning fluids.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS :

While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly uses hands and fingers to handle, grasp, feel or operate objects or equipment, and reach with hands and arms. This position involves standing, kneeling, and bending most of the time.
