Senior Mechanical Design Engineer (MEP) | Oakland, CA | Hybrid | Open to relocators
An employee-owned engineering firm is looking for a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer who wants to take real ownership of building design work while staying connected to a supportive, sustainability-driven team. This hybrid role (2+ days in office) is ideal for someone who enjoys technical depth, collaboration, and making a meaningful impact on high-performance buildings across California and beyond.
In this role, you lead mechanical design efforts on multiple projects, develop HVAC system strategies, prepare drawings, analyses, specifications, and calculations, and stay involved through construction administration and site observations. You’ll support and guide HVAC staff, contribute to a collaborative project environment, and bring a confident, client-facing presence to meetings and presentations.
What You Bring :
BS in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience
7+ years of MEP or AEC design consulting experience
Advanced knowledge of HVAC systems for commercial, educational, and public safety projects
Strong understanding of industry codes and standards
Experience communicating directly with clients
Preferred :
Professional Engineering license
Working knowledge of IES-VE
