SUMMARY
The Chief Medical Officer (CMO) will serve as the senior physician executive for the KPC Health system. This role provides strategic leadership and operational oversight of medical and clinical affairs to ensure high-quality, patient-centered care, compliance with regulatory standards, and the advancement of clinical excellence across all hospitals.
As a member of the Executive Leadership Team, the CMO will be a visible leader and trusted advisor to the CEO, Board of Directors, and physician community, aligning clinical priorities with organizational goals and driving innovation in care delivery, quality, and patient outcomes.
REQUIREMENTS
- MD or DO degree from an accredited institution; board certification in a recognized specialty.
- Active and unrestricted California medical license (or eligibility for licensure).
- Minimum of 10 years of progressive medical leadership experience in a hospital or health system, including prior CMO or senior physician executive role.
- Demonstrated success in physician engagement, clinical quality improvement, and medical staff governance.
- Experience with regulatory compliance (CMS, Joint Commission, and state regulations).
- Strong background in clinical informatics, care management, and healthcare operations.
- Exceptional leadership, communication, and collaboration skills with proven ability to influence across diverse stakeholders.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Provide system-wide leadership for medical and clinical operations across seven hospitals.Collaborate with executives, medical staff, and department chairs to establish and monitor clinical priorities and performance metrics.Champion initiatives to improve quality, patient safety, risk management, and regulatory readiness.Serve as liaison between administration and medical staff, fostering engagement, collaboration, and accountability.Oversee utilization management, clinical documentation integrity, and denial management programs.Partner with payers and third-party medical directors to address clinical appropriateness, length of stay, and resource utilization.Lead physician engagement with health information technology, optimizing the Electronic Health Record (EHR) for effective use.Drive clinical innovation initiatives including telehealth, population health strategies, and evidence-based care models.Serve as a key member of the Executive Leadership Team, advancing KPC Health’s mission and culture of excellence.
