A Day in the Life
The Field Technician- Ambient Air Quality is responsible for collecting air quality samples and data for air quality monitoring programs located throughout the state of New Mexico and elsewhere. This individual will be responsible for collecting samples, capturing data, and perform basic electronic troubleshooting. These skills combined with specific knowledge of the air quality monitoring regulations, methods and procedures to produce and report results from the air quality monitoring program. The following list of duties are the responsibility of the field technician.
Responsible for understanding field data acquisition principles.Responsible for calibration and repair of environmental monitoring instrumentationResponsible for maintaining both client and Montrose owned field equipment in working order.Complete comprehensive Job Safety Analysis at job locationMaintain and use all required PPEPerform and document calibration of monitoring instrument as requiredDocument all data validation activities (e.g., deletions, edits, calibration factors, instrument repair, audits)Enter raw data into data validation / reporting software systemPrint and review all raw data immediately upon receipt from the field and pass on to project management / supervisorProcess particulate filters (pre- and post-exposure) according to EPA protocolsPerform any other duties assigned by client or manager(s)Participate in training for career development, safety and maintaining required certificationsConduct and support client engagement activities to strengthen our relationships with our clients and increase our understanding of their needsOrganizational Core Competencies

Education Requirements :
High School diploma or equivalent (Required)Associate's degree in science related field. (preferred)Bachelor's degree with Emphasis in Physical science (Chemistry, biology, physics etc.) or related field (preferred)Years of Experience :

MSHA part 48 certificationTransportation Worker Identification Credentials (TWIC)Safety / Drug Screening :
Capability to pass background checks and initial and random drug screeningMust be able to successfully pass a urine, alcohol, and hair drug testValid driver's license and ability to obtain and maintain DOT medical certificationAbility to complete and maintain MSHA part 48 certification and annual 8-hour refresher classAbility to climb stairs, ladders and work from heightsAbility to work out in field conditions.Travel :
Ability / willingness for overnight and local travel for multi-weekday projects between 40%-60% of the time or more.
