Job Description

The Registered Nurse holds accountability for providing antepartum, intrapartum, immediate postpartum, and neonatal care to Labor and Delivery patients. The nurse will utilize the Nursing Process in accordance with state Nurse Practice Act and hospital policies and procedures. This role requires critical thinking skills, scientific judgment, and leadership in planning for the safe delivery of care.

Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive nursing care during the antepartum, intrapartum, immediate postpartum, and neonatal phases.
  • Demonstrate clinical competencies and critical thinking skills in patient care.
  • Delegate patient care priorities based on available staff education and experience.
  • Supervise and provide direction to assigned personnel in delivering patient care.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

  • Two years of nursing experience required.
  • Current TN nursing license.
  • BLS and ACLS certifications (ARC or AHA only accepted).
  • NRP certification preferred (must obtain within 6 months).
  • Fetal monitoring certification preferred (must obtain within 6 months).
  • Experience using EMR - Cerner.
  • Patient ratio - 2 : 1.
