Intellectual Property Patent Associate – Houston, TX (Onsite)

Direct Counsel is representing an AmLaw 100 firm seeking a Junior-Level Patent Associate to join its Intellectual Property Practice Group in Houston, Texas . This full-time, onsite position offers a dynamic opportunity to work with a nationally recognized IP team on cutting-edge technologies for clients ranging from startups to multinational corporations. About the Role :

This role focuses on patent prosecution across a broad range of technologies, with an emphasis on :

Chemical and hydrocarbon processing

Oil and gas innovations

Waste treatment and recycling

Materials science

Industrial controls

Medical and mechanical processes

Associates will contribute to high-level client service, interfacing with inventors and business teams to craft effective IP strategies on both domestic and international matters.

Key Responsibilities :

Prepare and prosecute U.S. and international patent applications

Conduct patentability and freedom-to-operate analyses

Interact directly with clients to provide strategic IP counseling

Work closely with partners on a wide range of chemical and mechanical technologies

Qualifications :

2–3 years of patent prosecution experience at a law firm or in-house legal team

Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering

USPTO registration required

Strong academic credentials, excellent legal writing, and communication skills

A proactive and client-focused mindset with the ability to manage a diverse workload

Must be admitted to practice in Texas or eligible for prompt admission

Compensation & Benefits :

Salary range : $200,000 – $235,000 / year , based on experience and qualifications

Eligibility for annual discretionary bonus
