CAD Designer – Electrical / Utility-Scale Projects Location : Remote or Florida-based preferred We are seeking an experienced CAD Designer with strong AutoCAD expertise and a passion for automation and process improvement. This role goes far beyond traditional drafting — you’ll play a key role in building smarter, database-driven workflows that integrate Excel with CAD to reduce repetitive work and improve accuracy. Key Responsibilities : Drafting & Design : Produce electrical layouts, single-line diagrams (SLDs), and detailed drawings in AutoCAD to support utility-scale and MEP projects. Excel–CAD Integration : Develop workflows that pull calculation results directly from Excel into CAD drawings, eliminating manual copy-paste processes. Database Development : Build and maintain structured libraries of components (modules, inverters, transformers, blocks, title sheets, etc.) for efficient dynamic referencing. Automation : Create user-friendly Excel input sheets where minimal site parameters can automatically generate SLDs, elevation drawings, and project deliverables. Process Improvement : Standardize CAD blocks, templates, and XREFs into scalable systems to reduce drafting time and minimize errors. Collaboration : Work alongside engineers to translate design criteria and project data into automated drawing outputs. Required Qualifications : 5+ years of professional CAD drafting experience (MEP, electrical, or utility projects preferred). Proficiency in AutoCAD, including XREFs, dynamic blocks, sheet sets, and data linking. Strong skills with Excel formulas; VBA or similar scripting tools a plus. Hands-on experience or strong interest in CAD automation (AutoLISP, Dynamo, Python for CAD, or AI-assisted CAD tools). Familiarity with electrical system drawings (SLDs, layouts, grounding) preferred. Excellent problem-solving, organization, and independent project management skills. Why This Role is Different : This is not a typical drafting role. The ideal candidate is excited to innovate, automate, and standardize CAD processes at scale. You’ll have the opportunity to develop smarter workflows that directly impact efficiency, accuracy, and project delivery for high-profile energy and utility projects nationwide.
