thatgamecompany is looking for an experienced Full Stack Engineer to support our flagship title Sky : Children of the Light , by developing applications to facilitate game operation functions. Our internally-developed applications are a fundamental capability enabling our company to live-operate Sky : Children of Light with millions of active users generating terabytes of data per day.

As a Full Stack Engineer, you will report to the Lead Full Stack Engineer, developing software for applications that support internal and external customers.

As part of your application, please provide a portfolio detailing some of your previous personal or professional work

Key Responsibilities

Software Development

Identify issues and create solutions independently, understanding how to complete a task from start to finish

Participate in brainstorming sessions to design and document features with scalability in mind

Build backend API and frontend components and pages with strong knowledge of Node JS, Next JS, and SQL

Meet with individual team members and the full ITS team weekly to discuss progress and ideas

Interact with different departments of the company to discover and address problems and needs

Contribute to thatgamecompany’s unique culture and vision

Key Qualifications

Professional Experience

3+ years of professional programming experience

Experience building modern REST APIs in Node.js

Experience with writing Typescript packages

Experience using modern front-end Javascript frameworks (e.g., React, Next, Hooks)

Experience designing data structures and querying relational and non-relational database technologies such as Postgresql, Redis, MongoDB, etc.

Experience with Git version control system

Experience with AWS Services (S3, Elastic Beanstalk, DynamoDB, IAM)

Problem-Solving

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a proactive and adaptable approach to dynamic challenges

Ability to thrive in a highly collaborative environment involving cross-functional and multi-disciplinary teams

Strong initiative to find ways to improve solutions, systems, and processes

Bonus Points

Experience developing with Python and Go

Experience with Google Cloud Project, Datadog, Prometheus, Serverless, CI / CD, Gitlab, Kubernetes, Terraform

Experience with Sky : Children of the Light and its community

Experience in cloud project management in mobile, free-to-play, or live-service games
