Job Description
Seeking Safety Coordinators in Norfolk, VA to assist with a long term Road Connector Project. Must have roadway or heavy civil experience.
Duties include but not limited to :
- Administer compliance with the safety program and lead accident prevention efforts to ensure company and project safety goals are met.
- Conduct site inspections of project work areas and equipment.
- Develop, organize, and implement safety related programs that meet company safety standards.
- Assisting in the investigation of accidents and determining root causes and recommend corrective / preventive measures.
- Perform and document jobsite inspections and audits with a focus on hazard recognition and unsafe behaviors.
- Coordinate and conduct safety meetings / training programs to ensure effective communication amongst new and existing employees.
- Participate in regulatory agency inspections and investigations to ensure compliance with federal and state regulations.
- Carry out any other assigned tasks given by the Area Safety Manager or Area Project Manager.
- Must be able to stand, walk, and climb multiple flights of stairs.
- Outside role, working rotating Days and Night shifts.
Requirements :
Bachelor’s degree in Safety from an accredited institution or 3-5 years' experience as a safety professional in the construction industryRoadway experiencePreferred :
Spanish / English Bilingual7 years’ construction safety experience in heavy construction (marine works, tunnel, or roadway)OSHA 30 Hour Construction Safety TrainedCHSTSafety Trained Supervisor-Construction (STS-C) Certified, through the Board of Certified Safety ProfessionalsFirst aid / CPR / AED CertifiedBenefits :
