DESCRIPTION :
Need is for a Cost Change Order Engineer to support the change management construction process on the LACMTA Westside Purple Line Extension Project Section. Reports to Senior Project Engineer with a main focus of providing cost estimate proposals for all costs, subcontractor or supplier costs associated with Owner related changes, including but not limited to LACMTA Change Notices, LACMTA Provisional Sum Requests, LACMTA Request for Change (RFC's) and Claims to LACMTA.
RESPONSIBILITIES :
- Ensure that Co's Cost and Schedule Proposals (CSP) are processed in accordance with LACMTA Changes Guidelines and applicable contract documents.
- Provide assistance with the project staff in the review of scope, cost analysis, negotiations, and resolution of change order issues.
- Attend Negotiation meetings with the project staff and Metro and assist with proposal analysis presentation.
- Attend job meetings as required, and visit job sites and field offices to obtain first-hand knowledge of the change order scope.
- Proactively resolve problem issues and expedite the change order process.
- Process time and material pay estimates.
- Assist Senior Project Engineer with review of internal subcontractor changes. Perform related duties and projects as assigned.
- Have knowledge of construction labor costs, prevailing wage rates & fringe benefits. Understanding of construction equipment costs and applicable Blue Book Rates a must. Package material cost with supporting cost data.
REQUIREMENTS :
Bachelor's degree in engineering, construction management or equivalent required.Five () or more years of experience in contract management, contract administration and / or the preparation / review of change orders and claims for heavy construction or transit industry construction projects.Must understand fundamentals of contracting and have familiarity with large scale mass transit and / or heavy civil projects.Must be able to apply innovative and effective management techniques to maximize employee performance.Thorough understanding of corporate and industry practices, processes, standards, etc. and their impact on project activities is vital.Superior communication and interpersonal skills such as tact, diplomacy, influence, etc. are essential.Must be a business oriented person.Benefits
