As a Senior Data Scientist / Computer Vision Scientist in Alcon's Data Science AI / ML function within R&D , you will be trusted to apply analytics and software skills for product development and process automation. The ideal candidate is a scientist with a strong background in Computer Vision and Machine Learning. This role will be in Lake Forest, CA or Fort Worth, Texas onsite and in this role, a typical day will include :
- Applying advanced quantitative methods to solve real-world problems
- Coding, data analytics, algorithms development, and collaborating with partner Hardware and Software functions for product development
- Working with multi-modal data (e.g. image, video stream, text, structured) to create digital solutions for medical devices
What You'll Bring to Alcon :
Bachelor’s Degree or Equivalent years of directly related experience (or high school +10 yrs; Assoc.+6 yrs; M.S.+2 yrs)The ability to fluently read, write, understand, and communicate in EnglishAt least 2 Years of Relevant Experience of hand-on working experience in applying AI / ML / DL, and medical device industry or equivalent industry experiencePreferred Qualifications :
M.S. or Ph.D. in Vision Science, Imaging Science, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Physics, Applied Optics, or related quantitative fields.Proven experience in applying advanced quantitative methods to solve real-world problems in the medical device industry or equivalent industry / academic experience.Demonstrable expertise in algorithm development, including, coding, algorithm testing, algorithm validation, and preparing algorithm pipelines for integration into medical device.Good foundational knowledge of statistical learning and deep learning theories to guide model selection, training, and optimization.Good working knowledge on handling multi-modal data (e.g., image, video stream and text) from diagnostics devices and medical equipment is desirable.Good working knowledge on applying and adapting state-of-the art DL models to address 2D / 3D computer vision problems and evaluating / benchmarking model performance for real-time application.Advanced coding skills (e.g. Python, C++, MATLAB) and good working knowledge on hardware or edge implementation of deep learning algorithm, using C++ and Cuda programming.Knowledge of NVIDIA software ecosystem (e.g., Holoscan SDK) is desirable.Knowledge regarding cloud computing environment such as AWS is desirable.Advanced expertise in specialized software library (e.g., scikit-learn, and OpenCV) and other applications used by data scientist for algorithm development and testing.Exceptional written and verbal communication skills and proven ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary project teams is highly desirableHow You Can Thrive at Alcon :
