Airport Systems Engineer I
Under the guidance of the Airport IT Manager, System Engineering Team Manager, or Senior Systems Engineer, the Systems Engineer manages the daily operations of the Airport servers, storage systems, domains, applications, and data. This role involves performing professional system administration and engineering tasks, including analytics, monitoring, planning, documentation, and design of both on-premise and cloud-based systems. The Systems Engineer ensures reliable operations across platforms, including virtual environments, Microsoft domain services, email, file servers, SaaS applications, physical infrastructure, and backup systems. The role configures and maintains systems to meet user needs while ensuring secure and dependable platforms for critical Airport operations and implementing redundancy where possible. Additionally, the Systems Engineer supports hardware and software procurement, vendor services, and conducts complex assignments related to the evaluation and development of network systems and applications. The role includes mentoring and training junior team members, such as Systems Engineer I peers, Network Support Administrators, and other technical staff, as needed.
The Systems Engineer I plays a key role in keeping the Airport's technology running smoothly and securely. This position manages servers, storage, applications, and cloud-based systems, ensuring reliable operations for critical Airport functions. From planning and implementing upgrades to troubleshooting complex issues, the Systems Engineer I works across multiple platforms, partners with cybersecurity and networking teams, and supports both on-premise and virtual environments.

Key Responsibilities :
Plan, coordinate, implement, upgrade, and maintain complex solutions for diverse Airport networked systems.Collaborate with third-party vendors to install, maintain, and troubleshoot applications and utilities.Support and enhance critical infrastructure services for the Airport and associated City operations.Work with the Cybersecurity team to diagnose and resolve system security issues, optimizing data protection against unauthorized access.Partner with the Networking team to address any system connectivity issues and to plan network requirements for new systems.Engage with various Airport departments to implement and upgrade hardware and software solutions to fit operational needs.Develop and maintain comprehensive technical documentation detailing system configurations, designs, and procedures for internal distribution.Participate in large-scale system upgrades and installations, ensuring proposed solutions comply with Airport IT standards and City policies.Perform additional duties as assigned.Minimum Qualifications :
Graduation from a four-year accredited college with a bachelor's degree in computer science or related field and at least 2-4 years related experience in the administration of Servers. Equivalent combination of education and experience substituted on a year-for-year basis.Possession of one (or more) of the following certifications may be required : Microsoft Certified System Administrator (MCSA), Exchange, SharePoint, or other pertinent certification.Experience with project and resource management.Display a strong knowledge of Servers, operating systems.Excellent hardware troubleshooting experience.Experience in implementing and managing Backup solutions desired.Must be able to demonstrate proficiency in project and resource management.Must show accountability and responsibility to see all projects and issues to an end resolution.Able to effectively prioritize tasks in a high-pressure environment.Ability to communicate clearly, both verbally and in written form.Strong customer service orientation.Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.Working Conditions :
