Job Description
Virginia Peninsula Community College is a two-year institution of higher education established as a part of a statewide system of community colleges. It primarily serves the residents of the cities of Hampton, Newport News, Poquoson, and Williamsburg, and the counties of James City and York.
The Student Success Coordinator serves as a central resource within the department of Retention & Student Success at Virginia Peninsula Community College (VPCC), supporting student persistence, academic achievement, holistic development, and credential completion. This role is responsible for responding to faculty and staff alerts, meeting individually with students to provide academic coaching, and implementing targeted interventions that promote retention, progression, and completion. The position will work directly with students who are not progressing to completion and develop strategies for proactive support. The coordinator supervises GPS Coaches and collaborates with campus stakeholders to implement initiatives that enhance student engagement and advance student pathways from enrollment to credential completion.
- This position is designated as a Campus Security Authority. All employees are responsible employees and mandatory reporters.
- Availability to work occasional evenings and weekends.
Special Assignments
May be required to perform other duties as assigned. May be required to assist the agency or state government generally in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor.
