Structure Maint Tech (Field) WPB Field Station 4392BR Job Description JOB SUMMARY AND ACCOUNTABILITIES Performs mechanical work associated with repair and maintenance of water control structures, navigation locks and field station buildings and facilities. Mechanical ability to perform overhauls on water control gates and gearboxes. Performs welding including brazing torch work, cutting, and fitting, and arc welding layout and design. Utilizes hand tools, power tools, hydraulic and pneumatic equipment. Must be able to read and follow job specifications, blueprints, and diagrams. Other Duties as Assigned. This position requires participation in the Pumping Operations Program as either a Pump Station Assistant (PSA) or a Pump Station Operator (PSO) at any time during your employment. As a non-pump station employee, you will receive training so that you can provide assistance to the pump station crews during any pumping operations needed whether during normal work shifts, extended day or evening shifts, weekends, or holidays, etc. Both the PSA and PSO positions require intense training and mastery of controls and operations of each pump station. This position is subject to random mandatory drug / alcohol testing. Work hours are Monday - Thursday from 6 : 30 am - 5 : 00 pm. The position will report to the West Palm Beach Field Station. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE Typically has High School Diploma or GED (Required) and 2+ years' experience in structure and facility maintenance or mechanical repair (Required). The hiring range for this position is $49,171.20 to $57,241.60 (based on education and years of relevant work experience). An equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate. LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS Forklift Operations Certification (Required) First Aid / CPR / AED (Required) This position is required to participate in the Pumping Operations Program as either a Pump Station Assistant (PSA) or a Pump Station Operator (PSO). (Required) Valid State of Florida Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) without air brake restriction, or the ability to obtain a CDL Learner's Permit within 2 months and / or CDL License within 6 months from date of hire or placement in the job. (Required) PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS Due to the District's response role and in the total scope of emergency management, this position may at times be required to provide support before, during and after major storm events and emergency situations, such as hurricanes or other declared emergencies, depending on the assigned emergency response role. Extensive Exertion plus travel : Regularly sets up, adjusts, controls, tests and operates equipment to complete assignments. The work environment may be hot and humid with no facilities. Moves or otherwise transport equipment weighing up to 50 pounds or more. Agility Basic water skills and ability to swim. Climbing Crawling Drive / operate equipment.
