Systems Engineer
We are seeking a highly skilled Systems Engineer to support the development, procurement, sustainment, and modification of U.S. Air Force (USAF) aircraft systems. This role involves applying engineering expertise across the full lifecycle of weapon systems, with a focus on airworthiness certification, system integration, and performance improvement. The candidate will support both technical and programmatic activities to ensure compliance with USAF standards and mission requirements.
Responsibilities include :
- Applying DoD, Air Force, and engineering principles to enhance performance and sustainability of weapon systems
- Supporting airworthiness certification using MIL-HDBK-516C and ensuring compliance with AFPD 62-6, AFIs, and Airworthiness Bulletins
- Assisting with System Integrity Programs including Mechanical Systems Integrity Program (MECSIP), Critical Safety Item (CSI) tracking, and flight authorizations.
- Translating user requirements into system-level specifications and acquisition documentation such as Requests for Proposal (RFPs), Capability Development Documents (CDDs), Capability Production Documents (CPDs), and Concepts of Operations (CONOPS)
- Conducting technical and mission analyses, trade studies, and rapid response engineering for supportability issues
- Supporting system safety engineering including mishap risk assessments and resolution of high-priority safety issues
- Participating in design reviews and working groups such as System Requirements Review (SRR), Preliminary Design Review (PDR), Critical Design Review (CDR), Test Readiness Review (TRR), Technical Coordination Meeting (TCM), Technical Interchange Meeting (TIM), Functional Configuration Audit (FCA), Physical Configuration Audit (PCA), Production Readiness Review (PRR), and Program Management Review (PMR)
- Evaluating contractor recommendations, software / hardware deficiencies, and supporting Earned Value Management (EVM) and Integrated Master Schedule (IMS) development
- Supporting configuration, data, and risk management processes and plans
- Assisting in the development of acquisition strategies, technical evaluations, and milestone documentation
- Ensuring compliance with Operational Safety, Suitability, and Effectiveness (OSS&E) and Life Cycle Systems Engineering (LCSE) policies and processes
Qualifications include :
Must be able to obtain and maintain a Federal or DoD "SECRET" security clearance; candidates must obtain approved adjudication of clearance prior to onboarding with Guidehouse.Bachelor's degreeFifteen (15) years of experience in systems engineering; five (5) years must be in the DoD; a Master's degree may be used in lieu of two (2) years of experienceFamiliarity with DoD acquisition lifecycle and technical documentationNice to have :

Compensation decisions depend on a wide range of factors, including but not limited to skill sets, experience and training, security clearances, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs.
