Position Summary
The Sterile Processing Technician is responsible for the decontamination, assembly, sterilization, and maintenance of surgical instruments and equipment. This role ensures all items meet the highest standards of safety, functionality, and infection control in accordance with ANSI / AAMI standards, manufacturer IFUs, and facility procedures.
Key Responsibilities
- Decontaminate, inspect, and reassemble complex surgical instruments and equipment.
- Assemble and package instrument trays according to count sheets and procedural standards.
- Operate washers, sterilizers, and other processing equipment safely and effectively.
- Inspect instruments for cleanliness, functionality, and damage prior to sterilization.
- Maintain accurate sterilization records, load logs, and tracking documentation.
- Handle customer-owned instruments with care and report missing or damaged items.
- Maintain inventory levels and report supply needs promptly.
- Clean and maintain all work areas and sterilization equipment per policy.
- Adhere to all infection control, safety, and regulatory standards.
- Communicate effectively with internal departments and participate in quality improvement efforts.
Qualifications (Legally Required)
High school diploma or equivalent.Current CRCST or CIS certification.Minimum 2 years of recent sterile processing experience in a hospital or surgical center.Shift Details
